Thanks for that update, Marc. It takes quite a while for the extent to sink
in. The "area the size of France and Germany, combined" sketch is better than
the old "an area twice the size of Wales" but only slightly. Since the media
tend to exaggerate anything, you have to see the map and the inundations to
start to appreciate the way the floods have covered that part of Australia.
A friend of ours has just arrived back in Brisbane with her fiancé (she's
taking up a job in water strategy . . . ;-)), but she's OK.
