Thanks! The DR of the scene was very broad. I tool a couple of pics at
different exposures, thinking to combine them
(HDR them), but in the end, as so often happens for me, I got what I wanted all
from one. There is way more DR in a
properly exposed (to the right) RAW image than most folks seem to realize.
I'll admit, though, that it took layers to adjust 3-4 parts differently from
each other. And I eliminated a person
cluttering up the composition.

Oops, I didn't mean to post that one quite yet. Standing around watching the
vista change slowly, I decided to take some
shots of all the other people there to watch and/or photograph the proceedings.
I rather like the story I imagine for
this one. Friends take pics of each other in front of a gorgeous sunset, only
to discover that they are all just
silhouettes.
I also like it because the lone photographer to the right of the group, with
the lit gray hair, is a friend of ours.
In any case, 1154 should have been the first of four images showing the crowd
scattered on the granite shoulder of the
mountain. I couldn't decide which of two of the most serious looking/acting
photographer, then realized that together
they tell a story.

This and the next are then views of people taking in the view. :-)

I'll bet it's a zoo there at good sunsets during the high season.
