I believe placing the image at the bottom of the page, assigning it a 1px
width and height in the html code is one way to do it. My understanding is
that the browser loads from top to bottom so the browser loads the picture
after everything else is loaded and displayed.

Preloading images is an interesting idea. I know how to do it with
Flash, but that train has left the station. At this point, everything
has to be iSteveJobs compliant so Flash is history. Even Java scripts
have to be carefully done as so much of that is hard-filtered by the
brousers.
