Eagle eye Moose writes: I've never had a problem focusing with the 50/3.5. Ergo no need for the expense of the f2. One advantage is the 50F2 macro has less edgy bokeh in many but not all conditions. That I can testify to. It's "rendering" is slightly different than the 50/1.4 when used for non-macro but I wouldn't want to be called upon to exactly describe or quantify that. Some of that may be flatter field, but I don't know.
