I have taken my E-3 (and E-1) Skiing with me in my rucksack with
temperatures down to -12 C. Kept a spare battery inside my clothes, did not
need it though. Both bodies were perfectly capable of handling the cold.
There surely will be a limit to the cold they can stand, but so does film. I
have seen film beak at low temps (been in -35 C in Germany in the winter of
78-78, the coldest I have ever experienced. No fun in skating either, even
too cold for that.

My E-3 has worked fine at -6 degrees F. When I'm out in that much
cold, I use the HLD-4 pack for extra battery oomph.
