It was assumed for a long time that Smallpox was the killer here too - many
aborigines died without ever having seen a European as the diseases spread
faster than we did. However someone eventually worked out that Smallpox was
already in the community, thanks to visiting Chinese trepang fishermen. The
real killer was Chickenpox.
