One way is to pay low wages, which forces the state to feed, house, and
provide medical care for the poor who work full time but receive too little
pay to live. I was a manager at a Walgreens Drug Store long ago and HALF the
people working there were on welfare/food stamps/medicaid/section-8
(subsidized housing) because no one can live on $7 an hour. Not even in
Indiana! The half that were not on welfare were either managers like me,
pharmacists, or were married to men who had good jobs.
