As you already heard there is a way by uploading via the connector
kit. But I wouldn't dismiss iTunes... It will copy the folder
structure from your original drive and keep it sync'd when you add new
pix or new subfolders. As far as I can tell, it will also resize the
pix to the native iPad screen.
