Dump the X1900 which sorry to say was always a bad card and buy a new
5870 or 5780 (check www.barefeats.com **). I have the 2.66 version of
yours and noticed a big gain going from 2 to 4gigs but not so much going
to 12, but I also recommend adding more memory as its cheap. also buy a
new larger disk again check out barefeats.com for best disk, but newer
disks are also faster and install osx on it and do a migration - easy to
do and then you can keep the original as a backup.
so I would recommend
check cs4 settings use the memory (can't remember where I found that
maybe luminous landscapes,
then
graphic card
then
more memory
then
faster disk
BTW an SSD drive makes a phenominal difference on my macbook pro but
until they get cheap enough don't recommend it ( I have a smallish one
as system disk and data on a normal disk but that's a bit more
complicated to set up).
