Johan's picture of shovelling snow off his house roof while junior was
mowing the snow reminds me that my partner, who lived for many years in
Canada, said that one of their houses had a roof heating system to melt
snow off the roof and thus make it safer. Hot water coils just under the roof.
Here in NZ, when winter should be out of mind, we are having a major
blizzard in the very south with huge losses of farm animals especially new-
born lambs. A prize sports venue with a large roof area in Invercargill; it's
roof caved in due to 20+ cm of very wet snow on it. Somewhere between
400 and 750 tonnes of snow on it. There could have been great loss of life
but fortunately it happened when a tennis coaching session had just finished
and the few people concerned had left or were leaving the stadium.
Spelling (Chris) - I use Pegasus mail program which has built-in spelling
correction and an excellent filing program. Wouldn't be without it. Mind you,
it doesn't do grammatical errors (an OK word in the wrong place).
