I was quite surprised that I couldn't find a collection of photos
covering all six of the carousels in the area. That would make a good
project for me. As I said, the nearest one is only about 1/2 mile away
and the farthest is about 7 miles. Not far to go. Unfortunately,
they're only open until Labor Day so I just missed my chance to get
started (first Monday in September for non US listees).
I've only ever seen four of the six and only ever ridden on the nearest
one just last year with a couple of the grand kids. It was just a month
or so ago that I learned that two of them have Wurlitzer organs
installed and I'd love to hear those organs. That some have Wurlitzer
organs is not too surprising I guess since both products (the carousels
and the organs) were made in North Tonawanda, NY just a few miles north
of my son's place. Also not far from listee Ali Shah (sp?) Some here
may recall that the Wurlitzer factory was the subject of my architecture
TOPE shot.
