I think this is the cos**4 fall off, of course when you shift the lens axis
away from the film axis the effect becomes asymmetric.
I have noticed this cos**4 effect even with a 50mm (OM Zuiko MC) on long
exposures at night, the reciprocity failure for long exposures with film
exaggerates the effect.
