OK, Chuck. You are now officially on my "You prove it first" list.
I tested my ability to focus the L1 with 10x magnification in
Live-View with the OMZ 24mm F2.8 lens as well as the Leica lens set to
the same focal length. For this test, I shot both lenses wide-open.
The results are presented at 100% pixels from top-to-bottom (narrow
strips). The camera was focused on three different points for each
lens.
Distances used: 19, 20 and 21 feet, which translates to 5.8, 6.1 and
6.4 meters. This is half the spread that Chuck suggested. I suppose I
could have used greater intervals, but my own pride got in the way and
I went for the ultimate challenge.
