I do have two "Auto" lenses for my Canon. Av and Manual are the only modes
I've used (The Canon is a big ugly digital pseudo OM2 that works okay until
a real E-OM2 is released). I should try some of the alternative modes it
has.

I also did a double take on the word "shift" but here I think he was
talking about the shift in Program mode. To shift in Program mode on
the 5D Mk II press the shutter button halfway and then turn the control
dial until you get the desired shutter speed or aperture. The OM-2sp
can be similarly controlled by opening the aperture ring and thus
restricting the program range available to the camera.
