LOL, it doesn't have to be an old diesel for that. I once repaired a broken
throttle linkage on a Porche 911 with a
turkey lacing needle/skewer while lying on my back under the car right where it
had stopped in the street. It was a
pretty rough part of town and dusk. Fortunately, the little store at that
corner had a package of short, stiff pieces of
wire, labeled as cheap turkey lacing needles.
It got me out of there and home.
