Hi Ken,
I last visited Clingman's Dome in 1983. At the time, the thing that
impressed me was that, compared to previous visits, the trees at the top of
the mountain were being killed off, either by acid rain or by insect
infestations. Your shots seem to indicate some recovery. My only scanned
image from the visit is shown below:
