Ken,

I feel pretty sure, though I have no reference, that the SNJ/AT-6, which was 
built for training purposes, used a normal NACA series airfoil.  I will see 
if I can find something on that.  North American also built the P-51 
Mustang, which did have a laminar flow airfoil.
