That's a pretty interesting modification. My experience with pulling a
winder apart and putting it back together has never been quite as
straightforward, though. I always end up with spare parts.
We've talked about this ages ago, but I've personally never found the W2 to
be as reliable/long-lasting as the W1. My last functioning W2 was cobbled
together from a W1. But my one remaining W1 is, I think, my original one
with probably close to 100,000 exposures on it. Looks pretty bad when the
paint is all worn off.
