My 49mm lens caps of choice are Pentax metal friction-fit
slip-ons from pre-SMC (multicoated) lenses. They have three
advantages for me.
* Faster removal - I just grab and pull without needing to
feel around for tabs.
* More secure replacement - Push on and they are on. No need
to check that the tabs fully engaged the filter threads.
* If the cap does fall off, you can hear it better than a
plastic cap when it hits the ground. I've never lost a Pentax
cap, but can't say that for Olympus.
Olympus did make a similar metal cap for Olympus FTL lenses,
but good luck trying to find one of those.
