Yes, but problem is that things conspire to wipe out savings.
As an example....a fortnight ago I drove over a sleeping policeman (ouch) at
about 15 mph. BOINGGG from my front suspension! 100yds down the road over the
next sleeping policeman same sound plus clanking. By the time I negotiated the
next FIVE so called traffic calming humps in 400yds my front suspension was
comprehensively buggered!
Diagnosis from my local garage was a broken suspension strut on my 8yr old Saab
with only 45,000 mls on the clock.
Rough estimate of the cost. 1 pair of suspension struts rebuilt using my own
sports springs, 2 front wheel bearings, and probably a pair of front
dampers..plus labour...£1500.00 or $2250.00.
Now for the fun bit...300 nearside struts in the UK 0 Driverside
struts..Will have to be flown in from Sweden...STILL WAITING for delivery!
I cannot understand the logic...do they expect only nearside strut failure.
Still in discussion with Customer DIS SERVICE !!!
