Richard,
I flew small planes for many years, for fun, family trips, vacations, etc.
Then, at age 63, a year into retirement, I required open heart surgery, with
two mechanical heart valves. The FAA discouraged me from trying to regain a
medical certificate, so I gave it up.
Now, at age 80, I enjoy examining the airplanes that I encounter, but spend
more time on family photos, local flowers, etc.
