Yes, around here known as 'deer moss' since they browse it in the winter
from windfall. Pojar & MacKinnon call it 'witch's hair' and it must go
by many different local names. There are many similar species. The local
one here is /alectoria sarmentosa/. Can't tell for sure from the photo
but that appears to be the very similar, 'Moose's beard' :)
