For the image blur problem it is detail documented here:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EP1/EP1A.HTM
It is mainly due to shutter vibration, loose constructed 14-42 and IS.
Firmware 1.1 improves the problem but it is better to shoot with IS off.
I found the same blur problem with a Tamron 70-300 and 5D II (without IS of
course) at slow shutter speed so I sold it early last year. Olympus Pen is
fine with me as I will only use Olympus Pen FT lenses (except the DZ 12mm),
they are so solid that there will be no blur problem due to loose lens.
Slow AF? I don't use AF, I will use the high quality EVF and do MF, lens
mechanical noise will not exist either. I'm used to the 5D II video mode
with 100% MF (its video AF mode is also very slow and not usable).
So far the Pen videos I have seen are having too much noise
reduction/compression and the details are a little chunk, don't know if they
have been converted (poorly). I think I need to make some myself to
conclude.

Subject: Re: [OM] Converting RW2 to ORF
Hi C.H.Ling,
The main reason I want to load Panasonic RAW images in Olympus Studio 2 is
for Olympus unique rendering color/tone as you have mention. Clearly Olympus
has a great knowledge in this field and they are outputting the best JPG
from the camera in the market.
This is something very attractive as honestly I am really fed up with post
processing, raw workflow, color management, etc... I want to take pictures
again. Olympus is going in the right way, avoiding any post processing in
the computer. We want perfect pictures coming from the camera.
Having tried almost all RAW Workflow packages, honestly I hate ACR,
Lightroom and Silkypix because when sharpening they give a plastic synthetic
image. Chroma noise is something it can be removed but luminance noise it´s
something you should never remove from the image. You can love it or hate it
but you must live with it. Olympus software package is also horrible (I
really like CaptureONE V layout, menus and this easy way of working) but
Olympus image processing pipeline is the best I have seen until now. Images
look real, like film!
I am really angry because I am fed up of waiting, waiting and waiting for a
camera that never appears. PEN really grabbed my attention but why using an
unpolished raw technology. Although Olympus reports there is nothing wrong
with IS, there is something malfunctioning with the camera and the images
become blurred between 1/160-60s. The exposure meter overexposes too much,
ultra slow autofocusing (a pain in the neck), video also it´s horrible with
tons of artifacts, the lens makes lot of noise, etc...
Anyway, I am an Olympus lover but today I must recognize Panasonic is
leading the microfourthirds system. GF1 is a clear winner. They add
chromatic aberration/distortion removal in the camera and they forgot corner
shading compensation :( but there isn´t anything perfect!
Regards,
Dave
