Well... the ill-fated OM AF lenses (yes, those for the OM-77/88/101/707)
were impossible to focus manually -- except on the OM-88/101, but that was
"power focusing". Anyway, those lenses had a modified OM bayonet so they
won't fit on regular OM bodies, but classic Zuikos did fit the AF-OM bodies
with limited functionality. Do they fit any OM-FT adapter? and they had the
locking device on the body instead of the lens...

But... do you know the Contax AX? It was a beast that could autofocus with
classic MF Zeiss/Yashica lenses -- by moving the whole
mirrorbox/shutter/film-plane!!! Not blazingly fast, but did work at late-80s
AF speed, not that bad.
A much more reasonable approach was Nikon's TC-16A -- a x1.6 teleconverter
whose elements moved back and forth thru normal AF gearing. Fits a regular
Nikon AF body, and most MF Nikon lenses -- with restrictions. As fast as the
body permitted, but focusing range was limited with long focal lengths
(about 15m with a 180mm)
Cheers,
