That's right for an optical viewfinder, but any electronic VF has limited
resolution (pixels!) and magnified view is a definite improvement.
I have recently purchased the accessory EVF for my GF1... I know it's of
rather poor resolution, but does the trick as a framing device _with_ all
the information. However, the REAL advantage (and the reason I bought it) is
the increased _steadiness_ -- the eye-nose-hand triangle is definitely much
better than holding the camera like a P&S at nearly arm's lenght.
I haven't had any problems focusing very fast manual lenses with it, but the
MF assist function is a must -- not necesarily with the back LCD.
