Ah, you remind me of the Great Passenger Revolt.
I was with some people from a Mexican banking group going from Mexico
City to Culiacan, working on a joint venture. The bank's private plane
was late, the heating had failed and there was one more of us that
proper seats, so we gave up, booked on a commercial flight the next
morning and stayed at an airport hotel.
The AeroMexico flight next morning was delayed again and again. When we
were finally boarded, they announced another delay to fix an electrical
malfunction. Culiacan is not a tourist destination; this flight was full
of people on business like us, and the impatience was palpable.
When the repair guys finally showed up, they started working in the
galley. Passengers in the front realized that they were fixing the
coffee maker and passed on the word. Soon, the whole plane was full of
passengers, many surging forward in the aisle, yelling that they didn't
care about coffee, they just wanted to get the flight going. This being
long pre 9/11 Mexico, not armed TSA USA, the passengers won.
The repairmen hustled off and we promptly took off.
