FWIW, the party images I took at the 90th birthday were with the
Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VR (Vbration Reduction) on a Canon 20D.
In fast and careless use I wasn't that impressed. Results seemed soft
and flat at 400ISO (has Canon improved that much?) and the VR didn't
seem to give me much leeway.
Perhaps it's because I'm use to a 5D2 with the Canon 24-70mm?
