Piers, Dan, Moose, C. H., and Mike have bounced some thoughts back and
forth about focusing screens in E-thingies verses the OM film line. I
signed up to give a talk at a joint scientific meeting in Sante Fe, NM,
in June, and I'll be talking (or showing a poster) about using an OM4T
with the OM bellows and OM macro lenses to take underwater macro shots
of aquatic invertebrates. I don't see how I could do with digital gear
what I can do with the 38/2.8 or 20/2 lens on my OM 4T, and the 1-12
focusing screen is key when working at >2X magnification. Three
examples of underwater macro are at
<http://s124.photobucket.com/home/Dean_Hansen>. (See I should have done
some dust removal before scanning the last mayfly slide.) I'll be
interested to talk with any photographer at the meeting who is doing the
same macro shots with digital gear.
