I picked an FL-20 second hand. It seems to work quite well, has TTL,
Auto and Manual modes and is hardly larger than the very expensive
FL-14.
The shape of it gets the flash tube further off the body and while
longer then the FL-14, it is stronger - and flatter so it fits nicely
in my bag.
It's a lot more compact than the Culmann but doesn't bounce or have
IR. But you can get a diffuser cap on ebay for it.
If you're the kind of person who uses flash infrequently, in strong
sunlight, it's a good idea.
I still got mild red-eye on some fill flash at about eight metres
without diffuser.
Amazon had them for $95, which is about half US rrp and a third of
list price here!
