Quieter? Surely you jest!
We had ours spayed at about 5 years of age hoping that would mellow her.
Nope.
She's a climber. Most recently climbed onto the kitchen counter and ate
Christmas fudge while we were away. Was sick for 2 days. Joyous.
She also recently ate through the kids' school backpacks because she
could smell a few leftover lunch crumbs.
At about 2 years of age (we had just bought a new house with no fence,
so she was in the garage with the boxes) she climbed garage shelves to
about 6 feet high, and "unpacked" a bathroom box. She helped herself and
my Labrador to an entire box of laxatives. The Vet didn't even try to
contain her laughter when I called. You can only begin to imagine the
insanity that ensued from there.
I wish you much luck. :-)
However...the very best dog-sitter I have found....a long piece of PVC
pipe with a lizard in it. I timed her once, and she was out there going
from one end to the other trying to get the lizard out for over 2 hours.
She's also a very good mouser. And she "saved" us from a bat that got in
the house once...so I guess she has a few redeeming qualities.
