Actually, both. The Bosch units are smooth and quiet. The loudest part of
the washer's operation is the water going in. Although, when it goes into
spin cycle the rising turbine sound makes you think it's going to levitate.
(at full bore, the laundry is travelling almost 80 miles per hour). The
washer has an active load balancing system that corrects for any imbalance
within a second or two. If we still had our old Maytags, this would not be
possible as the noise level was very high and the vibration and shaking
would have formed white-caps in the trays.
I can't recommend the Bosch units enough. They are absolutely outstanding.
The washer is very slow in comparison to other washers, but the efficiency
is huge. It uses the least water, soap and electricity of any washer on the
market. Good stuff.
