OK, so I got the 50mm f1.8 sorted out, which was to basically clean up
another's attempt at getting at a speck or two on the glass. They must have
discovered it was more difficult than they thought and then put the lens
back together wrong.
I've now taken the back plate off the 28mm f2.8 and like the first person
to give the 50mm a go, have created a possible problem getting it back
together. Unlike the 50mm, the 28mm has a bunch of parts that fall out when
you take the plate off. Well are really only a couple and I guess there is a
limited number of choices of how to put them back so it won't be exactly
be like a Rubik's Cube. The problem was that the blades would get stuck
open. When looking at the mechanism it looks like either one of two or both
things may be an issue. The spring might be a little weak and there is a
little piece with a slot in it that has a little cam that slide in it when
the aperture opens. This gets stuck when the aperture opens. So,
lubrication on that part could be an issue. That part is attached to the part
that
seems t operate the aperture blades. Here is where I am on the deal. I
really don't want to mess with the little spring as that looks like a real
good
way to screw things up. so, do I try to take it apart to the next level
and lubricate it or do I put it back together and pass it on to someone with
more skills than me? This lens is in very nice condition and is a
duplicate for me. I just hate to see it be in an inoperative condition.
