Our Whirlpool dishwasher stopped filling recently. We called out a repair guy
who remembers installing it for the previous houseowner in about 1992. He said
he tried to convince them to buy a Miele because the Whirlpool wouldn't last.
About 90 mins and 65euros later he'd fixed it - no sale for a replacement
yet...
Cheers,
Jez

Yes - I bought a new washing machine last year - Kleenmaid - made in
US - because we were sick of Asian built machines with plastic
gearboxes dying after 3-5 years. The cost was around 2.5 times as much
and the design is very basic (no electronic 'programs') but the 'mean
time between failures' is over 20 years.
Most people don't seem to care though - the local agent went bust.
