It is indeed safe, as the lens does not protrude beyond the tube. Looks
to focus from a bit closer than 2m to past infinity.
The question arises - why would one wish to do so?
The lens is designed for macro work at repro ratios of 1:2 to 2:1.
Undoubtedly, it will take at least half decent images at longer focal
distances, but why not use a lens designed for those distances?
80/2, 90/2 or 100/2 or 2.8 would be better choices, I believe, as well
as more convenient.
