Dunno if someone on the list already pointed to this, but at

there's a wonderful online exhibition of some colour pictures dating back to
1900's.
They were all taken by mr. Prokudin-Gorskii during his trips at the heart of
mother Russia, with a rather ingenious trick (remember that color films
weren't that common 100+ years ago, just like today! :) which is similar to
what our eyes (as well as Sigma's Foveon sensors) do or are supposed to.
