For the past several weeks, I've been doing this too. Just getting a
straight, boring scan from NikonScan and opening said file in Picture Window
Pro where I have a semi-color-managed editing environment to work in.
Actually, that's pretty dumb. I can scan directly into PWP....
Anyway, by doing my adjustments in PWP instead of NikonScan, I'm getting
much cleaner images with less noise.
