Not triggered, Jez, allowed. You can "arm" the thrust-reverse and
lift dump systems (either both or only LD) by rocking the throttles
outboard before landing. But until the Weight on Wheels (WoW)
switches in the main gear are made the TR and LD systems will not
work. Unless the WoW switches are made because they didn't work
properly on takeoff ...
... so you check an indicator before arming the systems. If the LD
deploys in the air you lose around 800ft, pretty scary if you select
them at 1,000ft. I can only wonder at what would happen if the TR
deployed in flight.
