Ok, a day and a half later we finally got things solved. Unbeknown to us, a
programming error in a fiber terminal elsewhere in the state caused an OC-48
to go haywire. It was triggering alarms, but the alarms were buried in with
the rest of them. We thought it was still related to the fiber cuts, but in
reality it was a FOURTH simultaneous problem we had no clue existed because
the person doing it worked for another company and we were unaware that they
were making a configuration change yesterday.
Go figure.
Maybe my weekend will be quieter.
