This year's Pierce Creek Civil War Reenactment held in Binghamton, NY
this past weekend. <http://www.chucknorcutt.com/pierce_creek_2009/index.htm>
The first shot shows the battlefield and campgrounds from the spectator
area. The Confederate camp is on the far side of the pond seen in
closeup in shots 2 and 3. The Union troops hold the high ground to the
left and behind in shot 1. In shot 4 the Confederate artillery opens up
with about 10 cannon. In shot 5 the Union fife and drum corps responds
with a bit of music whilst the Union canon respond in shots 6 and 7. In
shots 8, 10 and 11 the Confederate infantry commence a charge up the
hill. But they're repulsed with heavy casualties by the Union canon and
the infantry seen in shot 9. All of this is explained by the old
veteran in shot 12. Finally, the battle ends and everyone returns to
camp and their wives, children, señoritas, and sutleries.
Incidentally, since this battle is taking place in the early 1860s the
three señoritas seen in shot 13 are remarkably good looking for being
about 170 years old. :-)
