My problem is that Adobe ties ACR into the version of Photoshop. If you
want the latest version of ACR, you have to buy the latest version of
Photoshop.
I vote with my wallet. The only version of Photoshop I have was a freebee
PSE which was included with my Wacom tablet. Frankly, with the exception of
a couple minor editing features, I find that PWP runs circles around
Photoshop in most every way, but I keep PSE loaded for just those one-off
editing things that it does better.
When it comes to the RAW conversions themselves, Olympus Studio2
out-converts ACR every day of the week--especially for E-3 files.
