You're in the wrong place to go see her since she's in Oxnard, CA but my
sister would do a repair like that. She and her husband run a shop
called California Custom Covers and make custom canvas and related items
for boats in the Oxnard marina. I hadn't thought about it before but
she could probably repair that bag in a flash.
