It's not that unusual... I've seen similar things (or, more accurately, like
the Yashica sample) with simple MF cameras.
I don't think it's related to spherical aberration, because it affects all
of the picture equally -- centre and corners. Probably a combination of
coma, astigmatism and field curvature with some mechanical vignetting...
