Yep, of course you are right Jim - what I should have said is that the red
dot indicates which of the AF focus points is the one which is in use - to
be used when you want to lock focus before final composition.    

But don't you get two years warranty in US, as we do in Europe? From the
Olympus Europe website:
"In addition to the one year World Wide Warranty, issued by Olympus
Corporation in Japan, the European warranty, issued by Olympus Imaging
Europa GmbH, is valid for two years from the date of purchase, if purchased
after 1st April 2004. "

Piers,

I may be mistaken, and Oly manuals are a pain to search, but I believe that
autofocus, or really focus confirmation, is comfirmed by a green dot in the
right margin of the finder. I am using Leica lenses with an adapter, and
this particular adapter is not equipped with a chip and contacts to enable
focus confirmation. Yes, my lenses do have red dots.
