Happy you had an enjoyable trip. Seems even the weather cooperated (it's
not been a great summer so far!).
Maman, the spider, is one of six bronze castings by Louise Bourgeois, a
French-born, American artist. Of the others, one is on long-term loan to
the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, one is on display in
Havana; the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, Tokyo's Mori Art Museum
and Seoul's Samsung Museum of Modern Art have acquired the other three.
Apparently, there's a steel version of Maman on loan to London's Tate
Modern.
