Ricoh soldiers on with the GR III, with a faster lens and, among other
things,
============================================
"A new imaging engine, in combination with the more sensitive sensor
promises to improve high ISO performance.
It also gains faster AF and a 'full-press snap' mode that jumps to a
preset focus distance for fast street shooting."
============================================
In a completely different vein, but still with some street shooter
features, is the Panny ZX1. At first glance, it looks like simply a
little sibling to the ZS/TZ series. However,
============================================
"... [with] twice the shake suppression capability of previous models,
the new POWER O.I.S is particularly effective when shooting at night
with a low shutter speed for example,
In order to respond to the foremost desire of all photographers – to
catch every possible shooting opportunity – Panasonic went back to the
basics and developed an industry-leading, ultra high-speed AF that is
twice as fast as its sister model the DMC-TZ7. If this wasn’t enough,
Panasonic also dramatically shortened the start up time too.
The Quick AF system helps keep focus on the subject while the camera is
in recording mode even before pressing the shutter button halfway. This
improves the chances of getting the shot because the focus is always
near the subject and AF time is minimized."
============================================
Sounds right down the "perfect moment" shooter's alley. Wide enough,
too, at 25mm eq., with the bonus of a zoom range out to 200m eq. Kinda
slow out at the long end, though.
So where's the auxiliary optical finder? Looks like one could epoxy on a
cold shoe to line up with the lens over what I guess to be the speaker. :-)
