My 50-200 died after a couple months. I sent it to their repair facility in
southern California. It came back working fine and I haven't seen any
problems since then (but unfortunately it hasn't been used much either). I
think there were a number of them that failed early but I would guess that
Olympus changed their manufacturing/design since I didn't see any failure
reports later. If I remember correctly, it wouldn't even manual focus.

Has anyone experienced the loss of the auto focus feature on this lens ?
The auto focus with my E-3 works fine with my 12-60 and so it did with my
50-200 a month ago. The 12-60 auto focus still works fine but the 50-200 has
now gone into manual focus mode only. The lens has not been abused, dropped
or knocked.
Might there be an easy solution or does it sound as if the lens needs to
visit an Olympus repair facility?
