This wasn't at home. We have a choice of many Thai restaurants, but many
are me-to and/or so-so. We found one a few days ago that is quite
special, while inexpensive. The owner is very involved. When Carol
ordered one of her standards, he asked what she liked about it and
recommended another dish, which was just wonderful.
At his suggestion, we also tried a different appetizer. We got a plate
with bits of several things. I recall peanuts, onions, ginger, dried
shrimp, toasted fresh coconut threads, hot peppers, bits of lime & ?, a
plate of butter lettuce leaves and something like plum sauce. The way
the light from the almost setting sun hit the lettuce led to this shot.
Then I put some filling and sauce in a leaf, took its picture, rolled it
up into a ball and popped it into my mouth.

Hmmm, pretty good. In fact the only item we ordered straight from the
menu and that we like at other places was good, but the least of our dishes.
