It's been a l-o-n-g time coming, but I finally have a Mamiya flavor
Mirex Tilt-shift adapter for OM. Also have a Mamiya to Zuiko adapter
so I can use any OM lens (no longer infinity focus though of course) on
the front of the adapter. I believe it is thus far the only one made
thus far by Mirex.
It was a long saga with help from several list members along the way.
The adapter allows for 10 deg of tilt and can be shifted but only
perpendicular to the tilt. The front of the adapter can be rotated in
15 deg intervals so the tilt can become a swing. It is quite small and
nicely engineered. I did not think any type of bellows would travel
easily.
Mirex does have T-mount adapters with a Hassey front. The latter
lenses are larger, heavier and mucho dinero.
It is a major treat to have infinity focus with my one 55mm Mamiya
(thus far) and the Zuiko macro lenses seem to enjoy being tilted with
no signs of vignetting --yet. Perhaps Dr. Diffraction can partially be
defeated.
Markus Michelberger at Mirex was kind enough not to give up on this
project. I was resigned to an M42 or Canyon version but they
engineered a slick internal release mechanism for the bayonet. You
have to reach inside the adapter to lift up the latch. It seems fussy
at first but it is secure and works well. After doing it a half dozen
times is becomes easy. I had mentioned the screw slots on the mount
might shear off the little gizmo on a 4T. The screw slots are slightly
recessed and they included a foil ring with adhesive on one side and a
teflonized coating on the other. The registration distance seems
perfect. They did not quite understand the aperture coupling tab
issue. It still would work on auto for OTF metering.
There was a bit of a language barrier as well. I had to pay a bit of a
premium for the extra fabrication of the whole adapter. They offered
me a complete refund after I received it if not satisfied. I thought
about adding the tab, but I had to send some things to John and sent
this along. He did a beautiful job. As far as I can tell the adapter
is perfect. (very Zuikoish, well engineered, compact))Thanks, John.
Thanks to Moose and Jeff for helping me understand the aperture tab
and how this works as well as suggestions and encouragement.
If you would wish to consider one (perhaps they can do 3T gray? ;-))

Be sure to point out the aperture tab --perhaps send the image.

Yes, that is the zuiko 135 macro on the end of the Mirex adapter. It
is obviously staged by the lavender as the working distance is much
longer.
A Tilted Mike
