I just received an OM to 4/3 adapter w/ focus confirmation chip from
jinfinance. Just wanted to pass along some thoughts on my short usage of it for
those who may be interested in one. I tried several lenses from 18 to 300mm, at
different f-stops, and under varied lighting from sunny to twilight. It
appears that the amount of light is the main factor, with wide angles better
than teles, f2 better than f16, sunny better than shade. Most will confirm from
f2 to f11 in sun, to f5.6 in shade, and f4 in twilight. Any darker, or smaller
f-stop, and the camera will not let you take a shot. The focus confirm light
will either not light up or will continuously blink. Using flash focus
acquisition would not work with manual focus. It will work using live view A,
but not on B. I had the best results with my E-330 on Manual, with focus set to
S-AF+M. This gives you both the focus light and the beep. I bought it because I
had problems focusing my 300mm even with the ME-1 eyepiece. Now I don't. The
adapter is very well made and mikes out .001" thicker than the MF-1. Again,
just my impressions, not trying to get you to buy something but if you have
focus problems with legacy lenses you might take a look. If anyone wants me to
try a particular situation, let me know. After all, we are trying to fool the
camera!
