I will make a sweeping generalisation and say that ALL new desktop and laptop computers sold today use SATA disks. As a result, the disk manufacturers produce a greater volume and larger range of SATA disks compared to the older PATA (=EIDE) disks. The SATA disks may also be cheaper than the equivalent PATA disks. A new external USB disk is likely to be SATA. An old laptop disk is likely to be PATA. So exercise some caution! -- from CyberSimian in the UK -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
